The Future of One City Block
Our Humanities class at Harrington College of Design was given one project for the entire semester: To design one city block for thirty years in the future. The class consisted of six people, three interior designers and three communication designers. This site intends to document our process and display our result for anyone to see. Enjoy.
Our Mission
To create an inclusive system that fosters a sense of community for its inhabitants while maintaining an increasing level of stewardship.
Design Concept
The design reflects a space that encompasses importance of community within the block, and the blocks importance in society pertaining to food and energy production. Ultimately, showcasing the Chicago Theater and focusing on keeping its original architectural and iconic integrity was the foundation for the block being designed around the continued importance of live entertainment and pairing it with the growth of technology..
